Hi, my name is Jackie Byford. I received my B.S.E. in Middle Level Education with an Emphasis in Mathematics and Science from the University of Arkansas in May of 2006. I moved to the Houston area 7 years ago and began teaching at an Intermediate school North of Houston. I soon decided I wanted to continue my education and received a M.E.D. online through the Lamar program hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated March of 2012. I have always been interested in how technology can be used in public schools and came across the MTT degree at University of Texas Brownsville. I began the MTT/e-learning degree in the Fall of 2012 and took my first 9 hours.
All of the high schools in my district are one-to-one, but I do not see that the technology is being used to its full benefit. My goal is to learn how to build quality lessons using all the technologies available in my district to enhance the learning of our students.
I currently work with an open minded set of colleagues who are willing to try new ways of teaching our students. I have 5 beautiful girls ages 24, 20, 18, 17, & 13 and have been married for 14 years.
I enjoy spending time with my girls, riding our Harley, driving my Challenger, and just being outdoors. When I have time I like to read Science Fiction/ Fantasy and enjoy watching Science Fiction or Drama/Action movies.
