Three years now into an oil painting project to fashion a partially shrouded image of the Face of Christ.

Why bother?

Well, the translucent properties of oil paints allow a build up of colour and texture that can create a sense of depth whilst also maintaining a level of overlay that partially obscures the image, making it less distinct, hopefully, than the many sharp graphic images that are already out there.
