Josh Chesler

Josh Chesler

As a professional baseball player, Joshua Carl Chesler has seen the ups and downs of life from a perspective that many people wouldn’t understand.

Though his career as a relief pitcher recently came to a close, Josh fully embraces his third passion, pursuing a career in today’s ever-changing field of journalism. (For those wondering, his second passion is punching, kneeing, kicking and elbowing people in the face as an amateur Mixed Martial Artist, and playing guitar is fourth.)

With a wide range of styles and topics under his belt, Josh is confident in his ability to take care of everything from a short article about a city council meeting to a multimedia package centered around a 3,500 word feature on an aging inventor. Some of his favorite things to write about are MMA, traveling, sneakers, tattoos, dating, punk rock and/or rap music.

After six years of experience as a student while playing both collegiate and professional baseball, Josh’s journalistic utility belt includes capturing and editing photos and videos aside from the written word. He also does freelance public relations work and knows the basics of graphic design, HTML, CSS and music production.

Josh’s work has been seen in newspapers such as the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Arizona Republic, Phoenix New Times, InMaricopa and Sonoran News. Josh has also written weekly columns and/or featured entries in blogs including Chow Bella, Jackalope Ranch, Up on the Sun and the award-winning Food Truck Avengers.

Josh (and his work as a journalist) has been featured on several local radio shows in Arizona and multiple times on NBC Sports Network.

Now that I’m done awkwardly referring to myself in the third person, please feel free to contact me with any questions or opportunities you may have.

Thanks,

JC
