James Charters

I am a Sydney based developer that has worked with clients as diverse as BHP Billiton, American Express and Sydney Symphony Orchestra on projects ranging from Facebook apps to full-stack eCommerce websites. My work runs the full gamut from small to large scale, simple to diabollically complex, $0 charity budgets to multi-million dollar strategic investments.

I hold a Bachelors degree in Information Technology and Masters in Computer Science from Monash and Sydney Universities, both with faculty topping records. Throughout my academic career I've received numerous accolades ranging from the Sir John Monash Medal, the Professor Cliff Bellamy Award to the Research Portfolio Commercialisation Prize for my graduate work. My research is focused on large scale image retrieval systems, novel image description methodologies and mobile front ends.

In my spare time I help with Spark Learning Foundation, dabble with learning (non-computer) languages, brewing my own beer and keeping my head low working on startup projects.
