Jared Clement
I've.
Butler Lampson famously said "Any problem in computer science can be solved with another level of indirection." Lampson's statement really can be applied to any problem in computer science, but the most powerful application of abstraction is collaboration, and it's awe of this power that fuels my interests.
Given a mountain, we can address it as a collection of boulders. Given a boulder, we can address it as a collection of pebbles. A billion pebbles may be no less intimidating than a mountain, but with a large enough team and consciousness of the big picture it's manageable.
The Internet, as a mind-melting testament to the power of abstraction and collaborative engineering, leaves me awestruct. It is simply my favorite thing in the world, and I dedicate my life to contributing to it.
My projects gravitate toward those that leverage (or enable) collaboration. Those are broad terms, to describe broad interests. If I were asked to name more specific areas of interest I'd go with data infrastructure, data analytics, distributed systems, developer tools, frameworks, APIs, team management, and consumer-facing products that leverage user-generated content (Yelp, Reddit, Wikipedia, etc).
I’m constantly on the lookout for additional collaborators. I'm always working on something, and I'm always willing to help new contributors get up to speed. Explore the links below to get a better idea of who I am and what I'm working on, then reach out. Let's change the world. :)
