Hi. I've just started a PhD in computational chemistry at UCL, having completed my MSci in chemistry (also at UCL) earlier this year.
My main doctoral project is aiming to investigate the viability of more accurate ways to model microporous materials - zeolites in particular - without exploding our computer system from the strain. Additionally, there may be some potential for integration of the modelling of these materials and the applications they may be suitable for, to better predict which structures are most suited to certain uses, such as nuclear waste storage.
Outside of the chemistry department, when I'm not working (in our accessibility and ergonomic technology suite), I spend my time reading, writing, trying to glean a wider understanding of computer science in general, from the wealth of resources out there in the MOOCosphere, taking photos of things I find, if and when I venture outside, and playing around with bash scripts (my latest obsession).
