Jason Stout
When I was a kid, I did all of the kid things. I played with my Ninja Turtles, Ghostbuster toys, and especially my wrestlers. But one thing I always remember was writing books. I would literally take paper, pencils and crayons and write and illustrate stories. They probably weren't any good, but I'd like to think they're literary gold. As I got older, I told myself that I was going to be a writer
Now, you probably haven't seen my name on the New York Times Bestsellers list, but that doesn't mean I haven't been writing (nor does it mean I won't be there some day). A couple of years ago, I started this blog on the advice of a good friend and I would like to say I haven't looked back. Restarts, constant editing and new directions have put me on a path that I feel best suits me (and hopefully you the reader) moving forward.
My other love is baseball, and I have a special affinity for the Cleveland Indians. My header image is of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson scoring at what was thought to be the old League Park in Cleveland. Looking closely though and comparing images of League Park at the time, this is probably the Polo Grounds in New York. (Joe played for the Cleveland baseball club from 1909-1915.) I love writing about where the team is now, where it has been and where I hope they're going. Yet for me, the direction I knew I had to take was to talk about the sport I love from the perspective of how it relates to faith. Why faith? For the longest time, I had no idea who I was in God's eyes. When I finally gave my life over to Christ (in my twenties), I knew that I owed everything to Him. From a sport's perspective, too many times people forget that without faith, in any incarnation, your view of your favorite team or sport gets clouded. My aim is to pull aside the cloud and reintroduce faith into our everyday lexicon, even when it comes to fandom. I fully believe it can be done.
