Jeanie Kirk

Portland, OR

Jeanie placed a map on her body to remind her that she is a citizen of the world and her religion is to do good.

Currently, Jeanie is Senior Grantwriter for I Get a Julep, Inc., a nonprofit consultancy that works primarily with organizations in New Orleans, as well as Studio Manager Extraordinaire at non-perishable goods, a textile company here in Portland. Jeanie's goals for 2015 include travelling, relishing family and friends, learning about sustainable and ethical textile production, and preparing for doctoral studies focused on environmental anthropology, specifically the human impacts of climate change manifesting in migrations due to sea level rise.

Jeanie seeks to both protect the earth's land and waters (whose ecosystems we all depend on), as well as enjoy the beauty of the planet's land and waterscapes. She believes there is a place where transparent and ethical business practices re: house wares and textile creation can create leverage for both producer and consumer to embrace a healthy relationship with our environment. She is working to reveal and support this place.
