I cover German politics and business for the Financial Times, writing about energy and the environment, media, defence/aerospace and utilities.

Previously, I was at the Guardian, covering education (2010-2012), and before that an editor on the home news desk (2007-2010). From 2003 to 2006, I was the Guardian's East Africa correspondent, based in Nairobi, roving across the continent.

I've also freelanced for the Economist and the New Statesman.

I am a graduate of the University of Manchester (BA., English literature).
