I grew up in Syracuse, studied at Davidson, and co-founded the nonprofit iCivics. iCivics equips educators with digital resources to engage and empower the next generation of citizens. Led by a board of civic leaders including Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and James Paul Gee, we serve more than 72,000 teachers and four million students annually.
I believe in the power of social entrepreneurship and the purposeful application of technology to improve our public school system. I recently moved to Somerville for Harvard's doctor of education leadership program and, in my spare time, enjoy city biking, recreational hiking, and listening to live music at the Burren. The background picture was taken along the Lemosho Crater Route of Kilimanjaro -- a long way from the top.
