Jeff Gleckman
An accomplished entrepreneur, Jeff Gleckman set up the West Coast wireless communications system for AT&T in the early 1980s, when the device barely fit in a trunk of a Buick.. In the latter part of the decade, he also introduced original handsets of cell phones to the government of Mexico. Additionally, Mr. Gleckman’s company, Tech-Ni-Comm, Inc., developed the first soft-pack and briefcase telephones. He also founded one of the first Internet shopping malls, which served as a trial site for the first online chat system for customer support.
Jeff Gleckman began his career in wireless communications before the ubiquitous cell phone had ever reached Mexico City, Moscow, or Tel Aviv. While working in Mexico City for a number of years, he brought Audiovox Corporation and Novatel Wireless, Inc., cell phones to the country. In January 1990, he notably sold 10,000 telephones to Mexico. During this period, Jeff Gleckman also opened new global markets for the product for Bell Atlantic Corporation and BellSouth Corporation.
As the founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the telecommunications company Tech-Ni-Comm, Inc., headquartered in California, Jeff Gleckman garnered U.S. Small Business Administration Exporter of the Year honors. His online shopping mall, Five Star Advantage, Inc., featured the top names in electronics, beauty, and other products, earning a number seven ranking in California for the most website hits. Another of Jeff Gleckman’s start-up companies, Aadvantage Airwave, Inc., operated 14 Nextel Communications establishments throughout Mexico and the United States.
With more than 20 years of experience in wireless communications and e-commerce, Jeff Gleckman supports several charities. They include the Special Olympics, where he served on the Board of Advisors and assisted in fund-raising efforts. He also supports increased awareness for those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The issue has personally affected him, since his wife recently succumbed to the disease. Mr. Gleckman aids the ALS Association, participates in the annual Walk to Defeat ALS, and acts as an advocate and spokesperson. Currently, he seeks awareness for the mixture of drugs he developed to combat the mucous from choking the person with Bulbar's systems, seeking to make the information available to the public who can ask ther doctor about using it.
