Ideas beget ideas, and action begets action.
I firmly believe that technology, properly applied, can improve the lives of everyone on the planet. Sometimes it's an innovative use of existing, basic technology like the Watercone, a clear polycarbonate solar water distiller. Other times it's something that lives on the bleeding edge and expands possibilities, like self-driving cars. And then there's everything in between, from open source hardware and software, to Earth-friendly construction techniques, to education websites like UDemy, to smartphones that let us easily stay in touch with friends and colleagues and navigate the world both literally and figuratively.
I'm a fan of technology in all its forms.
I also believe we should understand technology well enough so it stays out of our way, freeing us to get our work done, which inevitably leads to improving our skills and techniques. An analogy I like to use is a chef and her kitchen. She's not going to get much cooking done if she doesn't know how to control her stove or where the utensils, pots, and other gear are located. But once she knows those things well she can focus on her cooking, and - here's the thing - experiment with new recipes and improvements to her kitchen.
