Jeffrey Shyu

Dr. Jeffrey Shyu (Jeff) is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. His specialty training is in diagnostic radiology, with a focus on emergency radiology.
Jeffrey received his BS in biomedical engineering at Columbia University, and his MD at New York University School of Medicine. He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine at NYU Medical Center/Bellevue Hospital before beginning his radiology residency in 2011.
Jeffrey has conducted basic science/translational research work in a number of areas, including peripheral nerve repair with Joseph Vacanti, and MRI of neural precursor cell migration with Daniel Turnbull. For the latter project, he was awarded a research fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, as well as a Radiological Society of North America medical student research grant.
Dr. Shyu’s current academic interests include cost-effectiveness analysis of imaging methods, global health, health policy, and ethics. In residency, he has published articles on performance measurement in radiology and necrotizing pancreatitis.
Hobbies include opera, traveling, and dining out. He is trying to learn how to use his DSLR camera, if only he had the time to take a photography course.
