Jeffrey Lipton (Jeff Lipton) is a lawyer and a financial analyst with experience in many different areas of investment management. He currently serves as Director at Barbados' Fairmont Gloucester Partners.
Jeffrey's academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and an LL.B. and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor. He was admitted to the LSUC Bar in 1986 and earned his professional designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst the following year. Jeffrey worked as a barrister and solicitor between 1989 and 1994, specializing in securities law and corporate litigation. In 2007, he became a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales.
Much of Jeffrey Lipton’s career has been spent in the area of financial services and investment banking. From 1982 to 1984, Jeffrey worked as an articling lawyer for the Ontario Securities Commission, and from 1984 to 1985, he worked in policy creation and implementation at the Toronto Stock Exchange. From there, Jeffrey moved into corporate finance, working at Midland Doherty and Central Capital Corporation.
Following his years of practicing law, Jeffrey returned to work in the financial sector. In 1994, he became President and Senior Portfolio Manager of Infinity Mutual Funds, and in 1999 he joined Dynamic Infinity Mutual Funds in Toronto, Ontario as a Senior Portfolio Manager. The next year, he began work as President and Senior Portfolio Manager at an international investment management firm.
Through his years in the investment industry, Jeffrey has become an expert in corporate finance and investment banking. In particular, he had been instrumental in helping to draft legislation for Canada’s counter trading system when he was in Toronto He also at that time helped guide what was then the largest takeover bid in Canadian history. He has worked with regulations for various aspects of bid-work, lending finance, and taking companies public. When several companies, such as Newbridge Networks, Corel, and Cinram, came up for public bidding, Jeffrey Lipton participated in the investment banking process.
