Jeff Tracey

Jeff Tracey is a lawyer, a registered Canadian patent agent, a registered trade-mark agent and a partner at Rowand LLP. His clients range from large multinationals to start-ups and Jeff assists them in developing and managing valuable intellectual property portfolios.

As a registered patent agent with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Jeff regularly assists clients with patent preparation and prosecution, with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, and computer-related technology. Jeff has extensive experience dealing with both foreign and domestic patent offices and regularly helps Canadian clients to obtain patents both in Canada and abroad. Jeff also assists international clients to secure intellectual property protection in Canada. Among other things, Jeff can assist in navigating the subject matter requirements for computer-implemented inventions.

Jeff has assisted clients seeking patent protection in a wide variety of technical fields including software patents, power generation systems, mobile devices, mobile applications, gaming systems, electronic toll collection systems, video and image processing, e-commerce, television delivery, toys, and digital cameras. Jeff’s technical expertise also includes biomedical devices, having completed graduate course work in biomedical instrumentation at the University of Calgary.
