BIO

Good day, I’m Jelani Goodridge-Reid, a second-year student attending Ryerson University for RTA Sport Media. I'm a member of a loving family of 5 and I live in Markham, ON -- a city within the Greater Toronto Area. I admire anything regarding sports, fitness, music, food and entertainment. I’m also interested in French as it's my second language (written and oral).

It was honestly a dream come true getting into Ryerson’s Sport Media program. Given that I’m a huge sports enthusiast, myself, family members and my peers have always hoped to see me one day becoming an on-air host or reporter for one of the large sport media networks.

In first year, me and three friends in the program -- Skyler Gonzales, Emmanuel Crepin and Darius James created a show on Spiritlive.ca called “Northside Talks” which ended up being successful as listeners tuned in daily to hear debates regarding the biggest sports news over the course of the season. This became our brand so, we decided to extend it to Instagram and with a solid audience, we’ve managed to reach 1,380 followers (@northsidetalks_). I’m the major contributor for our account as I do the posting for our NFL and NBA content. I also post big sporting news of other leagues. Whenever breaking news, report or rumours drop, I usually will manage to post it on our page within 1-10 minutes. I commit to this hard work ethic because, I believe it’ll pay off someday. We will be continuing the show this fall and expanding the brand even more as well!

Now that I’m at Ryerson, my goal is to advance my skills, build a portfolio of my work while impressing peers in order to reach my sport media aspirations.
