Jellybean Benitez
Studio 54 Radio Executive Producer in New York
An experienced disc jockey, film producer, music producer, composer, and performer, John “Jellybean” Benitez studied marketing at Baruch College in New York City. During the disco craze of the 1970s, he made a name for himself as a DJ while he was still a teenager, and Jellybean Benitez found success both in Manhattan clubs and on local radio.
He subsequently entered the music studio completing popular remixes of hip-hop classics such as Action by Orange Krush and Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa. Working with Madonna, he produced and published her first major hit, Holiday. He also coproduced and remixed her next two hits, Boarderline and Lucky Star. Other major recording artists who have collaborated with Mr. Benitez include R&B and Pop legends Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, and classic rock stars, such as Paul McCartney and Billy Joel.
John “Jellybean” Benitez has executive produced Studio 54 Radio for Sirius XM since 2011. This satellite radio channel features classic dance and disco music 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
