I worked in television news and newspapers in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia before I headed back to the classroom. My last stop was The Roanoke Times.

I now teach multimedia journalism and ethics at Virginia Tech. I study journalistic ethics and the influence of technology on journalism. I'm currently investigating the values and ethical perspectives of political cartoonists.

My life is ruled by a loveable cattle dog who runs from stink bugs, a howl-happy beagle who climbs trees, a tubby cat who can never get enough food, and a neurotic betta fish.
