Jenah Maravilla
Conceptual Editor, Author, and Community Leader in Houston, TX
I believe in empowering our storytellers to radically show up in spaces we historically haven’t been a part of. I help confused Filipinx writers detangle their ideas through tailored, intentional editing sessions.
I stepped out of the healthcare field to learn more about my natural capabilities as a writer, editor, and community leader. As a critical care nurse, I had to quickly adapt to fast-pace settings and test my cultural competency. These lessons have carried over into my community work, informing everything I do and how I communicate.
In co-authoring Filipinos in Houston, it became a manifestation of my previous life lessons. I used the same detail-oriented attention span, empathy, and communication skills to gently tease stories out of those we interviewed.
Because of my varying environments, I am well versed with the strict research papers in APA format, Chicago format for Filipinos in Houston, and copy writing for nonprofit event planning.
