With experience as a professor and therapist, Jene Edwards is a California psychologist with training in rape crisis and trauma-focused therapy. She engaged with WEAVE as counselor and intern while completing a PhD in clinical psychology at Walden University. A focus was on guiding individual and group therapy sessions for those victimized by sexual assault and domestic violence. Jene Edwards also had an integral role in the creation of the first sexual assault therapy group of its kind for teens in the county.

In early 2016, following a five-year hiatus, Ms. Edwards returned to WEAVE in safehouse counseling capacities and provided a host of psychological services at a secure facility. Her experience extends to engaging as adjunct faculty member at Coastal Carolina Community College and teaching classes on abnormal psychology and general psychology.

Jene Edwards’ academic background includes research undertaken at the University of California, Davis, Alzheimer’s Disease Center. Through the program, she received training in brief neuropsychological testing techniques that incorporate elements such as clinical dementia rating scales and the Boston Naming Test.
