Jenelle Plasko
Apolo, Bolivia
I spent my early years wandering through the backyard woods near my rural Alberta home. Inspired by Fred Penner and Mr. Dress Up, I set out, nattering away with my imaginary friends and on look out for the perfect place to build a hide-away fort. I don't think I ever actually made a fort that I would continually return to, it seemed that there was always something along the way that would capture my attention and send me in a new direstion; ant hills, birds nests, tadoles I would watch grow into frogs, earthworm tunnels, fairy gardens, neighbours, etc.
As the years go, my back yard has expanded around Canada, North America, South America, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The imaginary friends are, now more often than not, real folks that I been so fortunate to share adventures with - which do include occasionally finding or building secret forts. And there continues to be all sorts of things that keep me on the look out for new places.
More recently my interest in agriculture/permaculture drew me into a small Bolivian community in the province of La Paz. It was here that I started to sense that I may have found that long sought for location for my hide-away fort.
I met a man who's dreams echoed mine. Someone ambitous, pationate, caring... handsome. His questions both engage and challenge me - He listens and accepts my contidictory spirit, and together we seem to find a beautiful balance that makes us both better individuals together.
Apolo and her surrounding valleys are the destination I am heading to - the place I am excited to live in. The place I am looking forward to look at with the eyes of a child in search of the perfect location for a hide-away fort.
I hope that you enjoy following the prints I leave as my muddyfeet trod the path unfolding.
