I am a social scientist and an advocate of increased access to social protection and economic mobility for informal workers. I have two years of experience working in Nicaragua on grassroots sustainable development initiatives, and for the past year have been doing research in Costa Rica on Nicaraguan migration, microenterprise, and gendered inequalities in the informal settlement of La Carpio. I am an incoming graduate student at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT. I will be pursuing a masters degree in city planning with a specialization in international development. I'm passionate about travel in Latin America, and love learning about and comparing regional differences in culture, language and "comidas típicas." I am currently learning Portuguese and hope to work in South America in the future.
