I am a person of many traits, my friends like to joke around and call me an enigma. I am one of the most athletic people but you would never guess that I know how to hula dance. I grew up an army brat and even participated in the Army Rotc program for a while but yet have the girliest room in my sorority house. I drive a huge red truck, ride horses, and love the country but have a more classic taste when traveling. All these contradictions make me who I am, and I embrace it to the fullest.
I have lived all across the United States ranging from Hawaii all the way to Massachusetts. I have experienced cultures on completely opposite ends of the spectrum within our country and for that matter it is one of the most irreplaceable things. Not many people can say that either. It has made me the women I am today. Always up for whatever challenge life throws my way, being accepting, embracing change, constantly desiring to learn new things, and always taken the time to appreciate and live in the moment.
I am currently a Hospitality and Tourism Management major at the University of Massachusetts and it is amazing. Do I know what I what to do when I graduate, led alone what I will actually end up doing? No, I am only 20 years young and learning every day. I know with the education and life experiences I have as well as my HTM degree I have endless possibilities and look forward to those every day. I've learned you can't sweat the small stuff in life but rather relish in the positive things. Also when in doubt just fake it till you make it like my Mama has always said.
This past summer I scored and internship with Marriott Vacation Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. How? Well I flew to Charleston in hopes of finding a summer job but also went out on a limb to meet up with the Sigma Delta Tau, my sorority, chapter there. After meeting up with the girls at their fathers weekend BBQ I got to talking with a lot of the girls. One daughter and father particularly for that matter, I was just making small talk telling them why I was there and what not. Then out of nowhere the father, my now manager, said "hey well I work for Marriott out on Hilton Head so take my email and get in contact later because I would love to have an intern like you". The rest is history but I really think this adventure gives a quick glimpse as to who I am as an individual. Furthermore what kinds of opportunities the future holds for me.
