Jennie Gruber

New York City

/// Jennie Gruber is a writer, educator, interdisciplinary media-maker, queer punk, and true karaoke believer. She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence, but frankly learned a lot more in Dan Fishback’s “Needing It” queer history and performance class at BAX. Most recently, she has been producing “Why Are People Into That?!”, a new podcast that demystifies desire. Her writing has appeared in several Cleis Press anthologies, including Best Bondage Erotica 2010; she has also blogged for Helix Queer Performance Network, Fleshbot and Gaga Stigmata, and published articles in The Believer, AORTA, and Whore! magazines. Her workshops and readings on dirty talk, sex worker self care, and spanking have been featured at a variety of international venues, including Good Vibrations, Perverts Put Out, Lesbian Sex Mafia, Dark Odyssey, and the first Feminist Porn Conference at the University of Toronto. As a film producer/director, she has won two Feminist Porn Awards. Born in Northern California, Gruber now lives in Manhattan with a very sweet bear. ///
