I specialize in art of the ancient world because I love mysteries. My area of expertise is ancient Egyptian and Nubian art and the ideas and practices that connected these and other northeast African cultures to the larger Mediterranean world, across space and time.
I am equally fascinated by art from the ancient Americas and Oceania. My research in this region focuses on the ways that art forms and practices communicate divergent cultural histories rooted in shamanistic world-views.
I am currently working on several projects focusing on ancient female figurines for publication in the not-too-distant future.
In my spare time I write songs and sing with my band Glitter Crimes.
I am also the proud roommate of an amazing dog, Hugo Butterworth.
