Jennifer Massey
Jennifer Massey is committed to advocating the importance of developing educationally purposeful programs, fostering a culture of assessment, and maximizing opportunities to enhance student success. She has more than a decade of experience as a researcher and student affairs professional working for a variety of institutions in the United States and Canada. She is actively involved in student affairs professional organizations in the USA (NASPA and ACPA) and Canada (CACUSS).
As a first generation student, Jennifer is particularly passionate about initiatives that seek to open access to higher education to populations historically marginalized, based on race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender, and other social identities and is committed to the development of programs and services that promote student leadership development and involvement. The Assistant Dean is dedicated to fostering an environment in which co-curricular programming is recognized as essential to the academic mission.
Jennifer’s research interests include, Geographies of Higher Education, Student Development, Co-curricular programming and academic achievement, Community Engagement, Social Capital, Bodies and Embodiment and Gentrification.
She holds three degrees from three countries. Jennifer completed her doctorate degree in Geography at Queen’s University in Canada, her master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and bachelor’s at King’s College London, University of London.
