A desire to capture the tactile, sometimes hidden beauty in everyday life is what drives my work. Un-manipulated by software programs, most of my photographs are produced using only my single lens reflex camera and my eye for detail. Though I do not limit myself in subject-matter, I find it particularly compelling to expose objects or environments––broken glass, peeling paint, an abandoned barn, a street scene––in ways previously unseen, be it through cropping, lighting, or perspective. Through a focus on color, texture, and geometry, I often abstract my subject so that its physical traits––inherent to its beauty––are highlighted, thus presenting an everyday scene or object from a refreshing point of view, elevating the seemingly mundane to art.
