Jennifer Crandell

My name is Jennifer. I've lived many places in my life. I was born in Georgia in 1983, moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where I grew up. Since the age of 18, Washington state has been my home. I have a loving husband, and 2 terrific children - an all around great life. However, life hasn't always been that great for me. My childhood, in addition to typical childish woes, brought on years of depression, over 10 years of rape, and also eating issues. Not saying I didn't have a great family, my mom and my sisters were great. But I knew, with my life, I just had to "get out of Dodge". I needed to see what else was out there, what else life could offer me. Before I left Florida, there was one last thing to be offered, without my knowing. A future husband.
I met my future husband, Corey, while working at a local McDonald's. No one can ever say that you can't meet your future mate while working at a place like that, we both knew we met ours. I was only 16, at the time, and he was 23. We knew talking was our only option, we didn't date within or outside the workplace. He left Florida before my 18th birthday, but as a welcomed birthday present, he returned for me, the day before I turned 18. We left Florida in 2001, for Spokane. Within a month, we were married.

First things first, when you get married, you want to make sure your partner's in good health, so you can have a long and happy married life. For Corey and I, this meant Corey had to take care of his cancer. He would have a surgery, right before Christmas. Another Christmas miracle, besides a bill of good health, was to be our own little miracle, I was pregnant! Corey's surgery was a success; Corey was wheeled into the recovery room, the doctor came out and discussed with me all that happened, and then the worst thing happened! Alarms were sounding off like mad in Corey's room! This couldn't be good! I wanted to be with my husband, but the hospital wouldn't let me. I started freaking out! Even the Hospital Chaplain came to me, telling me they were trying to revive my husband! WOW! Right about now, I could have really used my mom and my grandma, up here with me, to help me through this. Here I was, in another state, married, pregnant, and my husband could be dying on me! My mind was everywhere, yet seemingly nowhere at the same time. Corey just couldn't die on me! Eventually, the doctors got Corey stabilized, and then finally healed and released from the hospital.
