Jennifer Lynette Payne
Activist and Social Media Strategist in Detroit, Michigan
Mother to one - I never knew a love like this could exist; God's greatest gift!
In 2000, Jennifer began her career in human resources working within industries of automotive, communications, education, healthcare and advertising. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications, Master of Arts in Organizational Management and a Certificate of Leadership Communications from Harvard University.
Jennifer’s background and experience is unique – one that brings diversity, strategic insight and effective communication strategies. She has 13 years of human resources experience including in-depth knowledge of legal and state/federal corporate compliance; coupled with a combined 7 years of professional experience in corporate communications, entertainment (film and sports) and philanthropic PR - including grassroots, community and urban initiatives.
She has helped with developing: strategic film campaign proposals, targeted media coverage, press releases, media advisories, bios, social media campaigns, marketing materials, special events and a host of various communication activities.
She has worked on well-known film projects such as: Lionsgate’s “Precious,” “From Paris with Love,” CBS’, “Extraordinary Measures,” and Paramount’s, “Flight.”
A youth activist for over 10 years, Jennifer’s relationship management, communication skills and community relations expertise has garnered overwhelming support from community, "celebrities" and public figures.
After 911, when Corporate America painfully endured lay-offs and cut-backs, Jennifer took advantage of the opportunity to teach within the public school system, and through supplemental interaction with students – beyond the traditional focus of reading, writing, and arithmetic – she discovered that a large percentage of the high school population were engaging in unhealthy life choices.
Through experiences, Jennifer identified the clear connection of influence between entertainment (pop culture) and youth. Therefore, it was decided that arts and entertainment would serve as the conduit to promote self-respect, girl/women empowerment and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle; hence, the birth of S.T.A.R. Foundation.
