Jennifer Irons
Talent Agent in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Jennifer Irons is an independent writer/producer turned literary talent agent. After selling her healthcare company in 2012, which was the first Black-owned hospice company in Illinois, Jennifer pursued her passion to tell stories and attended Act One Film School in Hollywood, California. After graduating, Jennifer independently wrote and produced several projects. In 2016, she licensed her spec Doritos commercial to Frito Lay. In 2019, her short film, Opportune, screened at the 2019 Toronto Black Film Festival, and in 2020, a feature she was hired to write screened at the American Black Film Festival.
Jennifer was also named one of Canada's top 20 emerging filmmakers of color in 2019. She received the 2019 Canada Telefilm New Voices Award, the 2019 BANFF Corus Media TV Writer's Apprenticeship, and the 2018 Toronto Screenwriter's Breakthrough Artist Award. Jennifer was also staffed as a writer on the CBC and NBC Universal one-hour drama co-production, Pretty Hard Cases.
Despite her success, Jennifer decided to pair her business acumen, writing skills, and knowledge she gained while serving as her own agent for nearly nine years, to help address the disparity in access to talent agent representation among the BIPOC writing and directing community in Canada.
In 2021, Jennifer launched META Talent Agency, becoming Canada's first Black film & TV literary agent and the founder of Canada's first Black-owned film & TV literary talent agency. Jennifer's mission is to help serve BIPOC writers and directors.
