J. L. Patrick

J.L. Patrick is an American Writer, Director and Visual Artist with experience in major motion release features, independent features, shorts, television programming, music videos and commercials. As a passionate storyteller, J.L. creates imaginative places and characters that influence audiences globally and has written a handful of screenplays, a couple of books, a few songs, over a dozen articles, many copy for magazines, newspapers, businesses and educational institutions, including social media outlets.

J.L. came from a visual effects and animation background having worked as Visual Effects Artist and Compositor on THOR, Captain America, Gulliver’s Travels and Kung Fu Panda. The artwork completed on those features has been invaluable experience lending a hand to J.L. as both a Writer and a Director, to get the most out of the visuals on set of other projects. J.L.’s passion and enthusiasm for constructing films with strong story development and spectacular imagery is captivating.

J.L. wrote and directed the feature film PENNY CANDY and has since (as Art Director) had a film STICKS AND STONES screen at Cannes Film Festival that was also one of the first films shot in 4K on the Sony F65 also distributed as part of the media package, on Sony’s 4K TV.

J.L. has also been a significant Creative contributor on several television opens and programs, commercials, documentaries, and both training and music videos and has worked at an ABC affiliate station.

Prior to the move to television, J.L. had 4 years as a Newspaper Journalist and 2 years as a Radio Personality. As a film and visual effects animation graduate from The Art Institute of Seattle, J.L. received a “Best in Show” Award at Media Madness.

Currently, J.L. Patrick has several projects in various stages of development.
