Growing up the daughter of a first generation Asian immigrant who was always working, and having a deceased father, I have found comfort and peace in being on my own. There's something about the stillness and isolated sounds of the quiet that spark my thinking. As a young girl, I once sat by the pool on a dark and clear night. There, with my feet dangling in the water, I realized I wanted to become a pediatrician. Although I may not have known the word "pediatrician", I knew I wanted to care for children. My mother did her best to care for me, but when I saw other parents playing with their children while my mother was out working, I felt like I had missed out on something important in life. This feeling later channeled itself into the love that I have for children today. My passion and joy come from seeing the positive effect that I have on others. I currently feed this passion by actively volunteering at a local homeless facility. Knowing that I can make even a single person's day better drives me further towards my goal and passion for being a pediatrician.

Aside from my lifetime goals, I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. Whether that quality time is spent binge-watching "My Super Sweet Sixteen" or "How I {Almost} Got Away With It" with my best friend or spending an entire week with my family during breaks, I am highly thankful for these moments in life.
