Jennifer Tresh

In establishing The Elena Tresh Foundation, Inc. in 2007, Jennifer Tresh sought to provide a level of grief counseling and support that she could not access when daughter was diagnosed with a terminal illness shortly before she turned 4. Ms. Tresh continues to focus on that mission today, providing financial aid to families with children with serious medical conditions.

The Elena Tresh Foundation provides assistance to clients who have a child with a chronic or terminal illness. Jennifer Tresh also seeks to ensure that holidays are spent in a spirit of togetherness by providing gifts to families in need, referred by agencies such as All Children’s Hospital. She is currently working to expand The Elena Tresh Foundation’s range of services through a new center in Safety Harbor, Florida. The facility will provide a compassionate place for sick and recovering children, their siblings, and their parents to access grief counseling, daycare, and a host of other services.

Jennifer Tresh’s background in health care includes a long history in administrative nursing services. Jennifer Tresh was a registered nurse prior to her work with the foundation. She co-founded the National Deaf Academy, which offers an innovative approach to assisting children and adults with hearing impairment and mental illness. Ms. Tresh continues to provide support outside of The Elena Tresh Foundation, pointing young women with addiction and alcohol dependency problems toward practical resource-based solutions. She has published articles on bullying and conducted numerous training seminars on issues such as mental health and deafness.

Late last year, Jennifer Tresh published a book about her experiences in caring for and coping with the loss of her daughter Elena. She is donating the proceeds of this tragic, but inspiring story to The Elena Tresh Foundation. An avid reader, Jennifer Tresh counts John Berendt’s socially conscious Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and Frank McCourt's memoir Angela’s Ashes, among her favorite books.
