Hello all,

My name is Jenny. I had a complicated but exciting university experience. I started with York University's math program in 2007. After 1 year of studies, I wanted to challenge myself further, so I transferred to the University of Toronto's physical mathematics program. After 2 years of math/science studies and tutoring on the side, I discovered my passion for teaching and helping students. In 2009, I transferred again to the University of Alberta, and I received my B.Ed in 2012. Upon graduating, I TTOCed for about a year in Edmonton and the surrounding areas, while mainly working as an early childcare supervisor at the YMCA facility. Early 2014, I left Edmonton and I took a senior math/science position in a BC offshore school in China. This was an amazing experience as I moved to Canada from China at an age of 12, and to return at the age of 24 to teach the Canadian curriculum in a Chinese international school facilitated deep connections with my bilingual identity.

I returned to Canada after 3 years of international teaching to further my development and understanding of education. I enrolled in the M.Ed program at the UBC Okanagan campus in 2017 while working as a high school math/science teacher in the Vernon School District. I finished my graduate paper in additional language acquisition in January and I received my degree in May. During the recent years of full-time teaching assignments, I discovered a passion for working with special needs students. I hope the course will provide systematic knowledge on how to enrich learning for the students and prepare them for success.

Thank you.

Jenny
