Tokyo, Japan.
I was born to Norwegian parents shortly after they relocated to Tokyo, Japan. So I grew up with Norwegian spoken in the home, English spoken in school, and Japanese everywhere else.
I earned a bachelor's degree in political science and then began a long child rearing phase of my life (19 years so far). After several years of sending my children to public school, I began testing the waters of homeschooling and eventually began teaching all my (9) children at home.
The homeschool community can be a place of ambition and resourcefulness. I fell into that stream as I cofounded a one day per week enrichment school called One Day Enrichment. My cofounder and I built the business together in 2006 and worked together until 2013 when I turned the operations completely over to her and began considering what I would do next.
I have been teaching Latin to homeschool community students for eight years. Latin is such an excellent enhancement to a child's education, and although many homeschooling moms agree, they are often intimidated to add Latin to their studies. I was inspired by Kathy Sheppard to start an online program for young, beginning Latin students. So this year I founded CoffeetableLatin.com. It's an adventure. If you have marketing or product ideas you'd be willing to share, I'd love to hear.
