First off, my mind isn't that dangerous. But I associate danger with risk-something that makes life exciting. Nothing is more nerve-wracking than not knowing or taking a chance. Where the outcome can't always be predetermined. I try to take that approach. Some problems have a simple, convenient answer; other problems require outside the box thinking. That box isn't a fun place to be. There's no change in your heartbeat, no feeling other than contentment. And that's fine-but who doesn't want to take a chance and be bold and brave and courageous?
Which leads into the more personal bits about me. I'm an overachiever-I will do as many things as I'm capable for the experience. Competition and I are not strangers. I thrive on being number one with every single thing I do, and take everyone with me for the ride. I was a top nominee for Most Outgoing in high school, and not much has changed. I have no problem approaching others and getting that I want. I don't have a shy bone in my body, but there are plenty of bones with respect. I'm the most polite person I know-which my friends still remain shocked by. (It gets you very far with my perseverance.)
In the advertising field, those skills are a must. I'm currently a marketing assistant at a start-up rapidly expanding and increasing. I have a lot of responsibilty-whether it's calling to confirm merchandise and orders, to designing MBTA advertisements, handling all social media aspects, sending emails by the thousands via a self-created campaign or answering questions. It's a fantastic starting point and it's one of the best feelings accomplishing something.
I've had previous experience working in other various locations until I was done with school and ready to commit full time. Woodshop monitor, camp counselor, treasurer, class speaker (which meant I carried a torch and walked in front of the line at graduation and was second to graduate-pretty exciting), street team member, intern, TA...the list goes on. Variety is something I definitely do not lack, except in my writing style. I'm not a formal person and I hate holding back.
And with that I leave you with the simplest advice that no one follows (myself included): Smile at everyone. Be happy. It's the first step to accomplishing great things.
