Jen Russum
I am a PhD candidate at Arizona State University in the Writing, Rhetorics, and Literacies Program where I study composition, digital literacies, and new media. I am particularly interested in the ways women are writing and designing online. My dissertation examines the ways female sewing bloggers and business owners in the handmade industry use digital tools for learning, activism, and entrepreneurship.
Additionally, I am a teaching associate for ASU's Writing Programs. I have taught First Year Composition, Advanced First Year Composition, Academic Writing Strategies, and Writing Reflective Essays. I've also co-taught a graduate level course called Technologies of Writing.
I am a Seattle native who ended up in the desert after six years in Fort Worth, Texas where I earned my BA in English at Texas Christian University and started my career in secondary education. My husband and I have now lived in the Phoenix area for five years. Since moving here, we have joyfully added two daughters to our family.
I have been blogging at www.theazrussums.com since 2010.
