Jens Mauthe

Jens Mauthe is a Richmond, Virginia–based amateur photographer whose work centers on analog film, mechanical cameras, and traditional darkroom printing. He shoots 35mm and medium format film and avoids digital capture in favor of a fully manual workflow. Jens develops film by hand, produces contact sheets, and prints final images on fiber-based paper using archival chemistry. He tracks exposure data, development times, and printing adjustments to maintain consistency across bodies of work. His photographs explore understated environments such as empty rooms, industrial remnants, worn materials, and indirect light.
