Jens Rasmussen is an award winning actor, deviser, and movement specialist.
He is a Founding Artist of Bechdel Project, a company dedicated to changing culture by changing the stories we tell. Through Bechdel Project, he travels to universities across the country leading writing and devising residencies that focus on representation, and telling all our stories.
His love of the outdoors and environmental advocacy led him to help found the North Brooklyn Boat Club, where he teaches paddling, camp craft, and survival skills. His class was featured in the New York Times, and led to his casting in National Geographic’s series MYGRATIONS, where he walked across the Serengeti with little more than the clothes on his back.
As an activist, he helps community organizers build theatrical, headline capturing actions. His work with Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park has changed the map of New York City forever, by saving 28 acres of prime Brooklyn waterfront real estate from developers which will now be turned into parkland.
Jens is currently writing a book about his movement technique called Magnetics, and will appear this season in the premiere of American Dreams at Cleveland Public Theatre, a devised and immersive play that imagines a world where all US immigration has been shut down and the only way to gain citizenship is by participating in a live televised game show run by the US government.
