Jens von Wichtingen
As the founder and Managing Director of Cape Studies Language School, which has flourished for the past 15 years, Jens von Wichtingen has brought thousands of students from around the globe to South Africa to study English and gain valuable life experiences. Additionally, Jens von Wichtingen has sought involvement in humanitarian work for the benefit of his community.
Through Cape Studies Language School, Jens von Wichtingen endeavors to bring the world into the classroom and to take the classroom out into the world. In addition to outstanding English language programs, Jens von Wichtingen and Cape Studies offer programs that allow students to experience the many diversities Cape Town has to offer. Recognizing that the most effective way to fully grasp a new language is by experiencing the interplay at work between language and culture, Jens von Wichtingen established the Traveling Classroom. Through this program, students can go on safaris, explore local wine routes, watch whales, and tour the local townships in order to discover the rich cultural diversity of the area, among other activities. In 2007 and 2009, Cape Studies Language School earned a place on the short list for Language Travel Magazine's Star English Language School Awards for the Southern Hemisphere.
Before founding Cape Studies in 1995, Jens von Wichtingen earned a 1st Law Degree from the University of Mainz in Germany. Together with his partner of 18 years, Jens von Wichtingen adopted a 2-day-old baby boy. Five years later, reflecting on bringing his son into the family, Jens von Wichtingen proudly stated it is the best decision he has ever made.
