Jeremiah Abiade
Chicago, Illinois, United States
I was born in Bronzeville on the south side of Chicago, but raised in Mississippi and Louisiana. I am married with three great children. I moved back to Chicago, my hometown, in 2010 to work as an engineering professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My son is in the second grade at STEM Magnet Academy.
I am a huge fan of STEM Academy. My experiences as an engineering researcher and STEM parent have motivated me to run for a seat on the Local School Council for STEM Magnet Academy.
My plans if elected:
• implement best practices in K-8 STEM education for enhanced student achievement
• recruit and retain the best teachers and staff
• form strategic partnerships with local universities, companies and national labs
• ensure resources are allocated responsibly
• serve as an advocate for STEM families to ensure our diverse needs are being considered
I would love to hear from fellow members of the STEM community. Please use the link above to send me a message or feel free to stop me if you see me around STEM.
