I am a web-developer living and working in Calgary, Alberta for Critical Mass. Some of the clients I’ve worked for include Rolex, Hyatt, Albertson’s, Dell, Panasonic and Budweiser. Currently I’m a developer working on the AT&T; account working on a variety of projects for their global site AT&T.com.; My background includes being a Systems Analyst for Enerflex Systems in Calgary and a Java Developer for Avue Technologies in Victoria. Originally from Victoria, B.C., I started out as a student/musician trying to either get a degree in Geography (I liked the science of earthquakes and glaciology) or become a professional musician. Having chosen the musical path, I played in a couple of touring bands and opened for Wide Mouth Mason at the pinnacle of my career with my band “Fan Tan Alley.” I do still play drums on a regular basis and would love the chance to play with another band at some point. Realizing that making it as a band was akin to winning the lottery, I went back to school and studied to be an IT professional. After many certification exams (…useless by the way) and a high-intensity, two-year-course in software development (…very useful!) I finally made my way to Calgary during the boom of 2005. I have always enjoyed writing about and (drinking) micro-brewed beer and intend to take an online course this year in brewing from the Siebel Institute in Chicago. I have attended the Great Canadian Beer Festival in Victoria almost every year since 1997 and have seen first hand the explosive growth of the Micro-brewing industry in Western Canada. I would love to create my own micro-brews at home and perhaps one day enter one in the home-brewing championships!! Until then I’ll keep trying the latest creations from some of my favorites like Driftwood Brewing and Vancouver Island Brewery in Victoria.
