Dr. Jeremy Spielman is a teacher, principal, system administrator, and school-transformation agent whose work rests on a simple conviction: the right question moves people further than the right answer ever could. That conviction was not inherited from a textbook. As a young educator, Jeremy received his first training in the Paideia method and felt something close to grief, a recognition that he himself had been robbed of this quality of education as a student. That moment set the course for the rest of his career. He has spent his life's work since trying to make sure as many students, teachers, and leaders as possible never have to feel that same loss.

As Executive Director of the National Paideia Center, Jeremy now carries that mission nationally, partnering with educators across the country to build classrooms and school communities where dialogue, not directive, drives the work. Before stepping into this role, he served schools throughout North Carolina as a District and School Transformation Coach with the Department of Public Instruction, and before that as an advisor, start-up school CEO, principal, program coordinator, and classroom teacher.

Jeremy's guiding aim is self-efficacy, both his own and that of everyone he works alongside. He carries an entrepreneurial mind and a genuine belief that the right question, asked at the right moment, can unlock the creative designs and solutions that public education needs to move past its more static habits. He is inspired daily by the work happening in schools across the country to amplify student ideas, voices, and presence in shared, meaningful dialogue, from the youngest learners in a kindergarten circle to the elders who still return to the seminar table.

Outside of work, Jeremy is usually with his family, a book in hand, a wave underfoot, or a rock face ahead of him. He designs dreams and fails forward through new endeavors on a fairly regular basis, and he rarely turns down a good conversation, strong coffee, spicy food, a random act of kindness, or a spontaneous adventure.
