Student and Musician in Philippines

My journey into music started at an early age. My mom thought it would be better for me to enroll in piano lessons so I can blend with my other cousins who were all playing musical instruments. I was not interested much in playing the piano, I was less focused on it since I think of music as a hobby and playing the would use it just to impress my friends, relatives, and family during gatherings. However, as I grew older, music soon became my passion. I later joined the school choir and church choir. It made me happy that I am serving, connecting with people, and using my talent through music. That’s where I finally decided that I wanted to pursue a career in music.

As a musician, I enjoyed traveling. My traveling exposed me to different kinds of music experiences. I visited countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. In the said countries, I had the opportunity to visit some schools that had a program in music. More so, my stay in these countries also gave me another opportunity to visit their music studios and saw their resources. I have observed that they have a good music education system and great areas for musicians to learn and practice. This gave me another idea of what I really wanted to do.

Presently as a 4th-year student at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, I am preparing myself to be a future piano teacher and performer. Owing my exposure lead me to make Music and Me. Creating a great music and learning environment for people who want to connect to their music. At the same time, enjoying on what you love in music. Hopefully, Music will have more importance in the Philippines.
