Jermaine Johnson, Esq. is an education law expert whose mission is to create and promote educational policies that improve the quality of local, national, and international education systems. His area of expertise focuses primarily on advising education institutions on the legal consequences of policies they choose to implement.

Jermaine coordinates the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Summer Program at Iowa State University and is an adjunct professor in the Greenlee School of Journalism. He recently received an award from the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation for his work at Iowa State. Prior to pursing a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies full time, Jermaine practiced law at one of the leading firms in the United States and investigated discrimination claims for the Iowa Civil Rights Commission.

Jermaine is a regular contributor to the Education Law Association School Law Reporter. Originally from South Carolina, Jermaine currently lives in the Midwest with his wife and three-year old daughter.
