Jermel A. Gilliam, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, is a devoted father, husband, and military veteran. He serves as a hospice chaplain and licensed social worker, bringing over 30 years of experience in human services. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Morgan State University and Delaware State University.

Jermel is also a 2014 graduate of the One Spirit Interfaith Seminary. Reverend Gilliam holds a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Formation and a Ph.D. in Clinical Pastoral Psychology.

Jermel is the founder of the Wisdom Chapter of the Gentlemen of Quality Fraternity at Delaware State University, where he has emphasized male rites of passage, social consciousness, and community service. His diverse professional background includes work with domestic violence batterers, juvenile offenders, and providing psychotherapy throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. A committed participant in male rites of passage initiatives, including the Baltimore Rites of Passage Initiative (BROPI).

In Spring 2026, Jermel was initiated into the Baltimore Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, he is the host of The Sacred Black Masculine Show, and is also affiliated with the Centers for Spiritual Living, and is the founder of the Baltimore Center for Love, where he fosters interfaith dialogue and transformative spiritual practices.
