Jerry Chiappetta

I was a political reporter for the Detroit Times, then night bureau manager of United Press International. Later I was the outdoor editor of the Detroit Free-Press and then dove full time into broadcast TV for ESPN and independent networks. I produced more than 800 TV programs and special films and videos for the auto industry. Through it all, I maintained an interest in WWII in the Pacific theater in and the plight of our POWs and the sex slaves of the Japanese. I published one non-fiction book with Stackpole Books and a second short book called Why Don’t Dogs Wear Shoes? in addition to more than 400 national magazine articles that earned a score of writing and broadcasting awards.
