Jerry Cosgrove

There has never been someone as passionate about agriculture as Jerry Cosgrove, especially at such an early age. Maybe it was because he himself grew up and worked on a farm with his family. While this farm still stands today in Clinton, NY, you will find Jerry no longer farming there. Has Jerry moved on or is he doing something more productive with his time instead of joining his brother Mike in managing the property?

What Has Jerry Been Doing?

Because Jerry Cosgrove had the opportunity of experiencing what it is like as a farmer himself, he spends some of his time being an active part of organizations like the Greenhorn and National Young Farmers Coalition, and he encourages others to do so also. These organizations provide a lot of assistance to farmers trying to succeed.

Not only was even able to collaborate with many programs to make farmland affordable and accessible to farmers but he has also working hard to maintain an adequate amount of food all over the region. He has even put his focus to coming up with strategies that will encourage economic development consistently.

Achievements

Over the years, Jerry has worked for a variety of organizations and found himself in many professional positions such as an associate attorney at Bond Schoeneck and King, New York Director and Northeast Director for American Farmland Trust and Deputy Commissioner at NYS Agriculture and Markets.

He has found himself giving many speeches in a variety of places such as the land trusts, farm groups, Farm Bureau, Land Trust Alliance Conferences and New York State Association of Counties. You will even find him on several boards and committees. On top of all of this, Jerry Cosgrove has found time to enjoy doing some of the other things that he loves.

Free Time for Jerry

During Jerry's free time, he has found time to write a few publications such as "Drafting Conservative Easements for Agriculture, Your Land is You Legacy, An Estate Planning Guide for Farmers and Ranchers and Agriculture Economic Development for the Hudson Family." He is also an active member of the Holstein Association.
