Upon completing his education, Jerry Gibson was determined to secure a teaching and coaching position in a leading Texas school district. Eventually, he found a role that allowed him to merge his passion for academics and athletics. Throughout the early stages of his career, Dr. Gibson assumed diverse roles, including teacher, head coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and full-time principal. Eventually, he dedicated his career to school administration, recognizing its potential for effecting substantial change in his community and the local education system.

One notable milestone in his earlier career came in 2011 when he was appointed Executive Director of Secondary Education in the Waco Independent School District. In this capacity, he oversaw the operations of nearly a dozen schools, catering to over 6,500 students, making it one of the larger districts in Texas.

Building on his experience in various roles, from teacher to principal, Dr. Gibson was offered the opportunity to serve as the superintendent in three Texas school districts over ten years. Each superintendent position presented unique challenges, including implementing innovative educational plans and cultivating relationships with parents and educators within the districts. Throughout this decade-long journey, Dr. Gibson remained steadfast in his commitment to ensuring that all students in these areas had equal access to the education and resources necessary for their success. Some districts he served as superintendent included Coldspring, Oakhurst, and Marshall, TX.

Following his tenure as superintendent, the Galveston Independent School District in Galveston, TX, was fortunate to secure Dr. Gibson as their superintendent. In this leadership role, Dr. Gibson consistently prioritizes the best interests of the students, striving to prepare them for college or entry into the workforce. He has implemented a comprehensive and focused educational plan to equip graduating students with the necessary skills and knowledge.
