Jerry McCoy
Communications Project Manager in Phoenix, Arizona
A native and longtime resident of the greater Phoenix area, Jerry McCoy earned a degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe. While attending ASU, he was already working as a reporter with The Phoenix Gazette.
Jerry McCoy entered public service with the City of Glendale which, at the time, was one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. Mr. McCoy's initiative, creativity and political savviness resulted in him being promoted several times during his tenure with Glendale.
After serving as the city's communications manager, he was promoted to communications/marketing administrator, deputy communications director and, finally, communications director.
Mr. McCoy's accomplishments at Glendale are numerous. One of his most notable achievements was successfully spearheading a statewide initiative that led Air Force officials in Washington, DC to select nearby Luke Air Force Base as the new F-35 training center for the fifth-generation fighter jet.
Subsequently, Jerry McCoy accepted a chief of staff position with the City of Surprise, where he served as the chief strategist and adviser to the mayor - the city's chief executive officer.
Currently, Mr. McCoy is community relations project manager at the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), a position he has held since 2017.
In this statewide role, he serves as the primary liaison between ADOT and the agency's key stakeholders, from business and community leaders to local government and tribal officials. Mr. McCoy is also responsible for developing and executing communications and public involvement plans for transportation projects and other ADOT initiatives in northeastern Arizona and the Phoenix metro area.
